Healing Health Care | Are YOU Part of the Solution?
I’ve been walking around for months talking about the need for changes in the health care system and that I was taking action to do everything I could to “put the care back in health care” and to “heal the health care system”. Somebody looked me in the eye and asked me how I’d do it. Even after all these months of telling my stories and urging people to shift their beliefs away from the current paradigm of how health care is delivered, I stumbled for a moment. My answer wasn’t clear, my vision wasn’t crisp, the words didn’t just flow. Yet!
Then it hit me. Here’s my answer when someone asks me how I’d heal the health care system.
Q. How will I heal the health care system?
A. I won’t, but we will.
That’s it. That’s my first answer. Don’t read on yet. Pause for a second and let your thoughts come as they will.
My hope and belief is that at least I have your attention, and that you’ve shifted from a perspective of “somebody else will do it” to a perspective of “it will take a community”. Now here’s part 2 of my answer.
A. I’ve said all along that the answer to healing the health care system is actually quite simple. And it all starts with you. Healing is an inside job. Every single one of us has a healer inside of us, our body was designed to heal itself. When we cut our finger, it kicks into high gear and repairs the wound. You don’t question that, you just know it’s true. The same thing applies when you get the flu. You may reach for some help in the form of cold medicine, but you just know that it will pass in a few days. The body will heal itself.
Any questions? Seriously, pause for another second before I ask the next question.
Is there any reason to believe that the body can’t heal itself from other maladies including dis-ease? How you answer that question will help determine if you are part of the solution to healing health care.
The key to healing the health care system starts with each individual, remembering that our bodies are meant to heal, and that there’s always hope. As soon as we remember that, we can kick all of our selves into motion to deal with the root causes of what brought on the malady in the first place. The current approach of masking symptoms without dealing with root causes simply isn’t working. If we’ve been eating like crap, we can change that. If we haven’t been getting enough exercise, we can change that. If we’ve been working so hard and so fast that we haven’t taken time to catch our breath, we can change that too.
If you’re still reading, I hope I have your attention. I’ve said above that the key is to remember our healer within.
There are so many stories that support this. There are so many documentaries that highlight the same things I mention here. There are books, movies, TEDx talks, etc. that highlight that we actually know a lot of the factors that are making us sick, and that by dealing with root causes and letting the body’s innate healer work its magic, we can get well too.
I call this the Enlighten stage of healing the health care system. It’s the stage of remembering what we already know, as well as taking the time to learn some of the things we don’t.
Now it’s up to you for the Empower stage. I can’t make you believe. I can’t force you to watch documentaries or research cases of spontaneous healing. I can’t force you to have hope. I can’t force you to trust. Only you can do that.
I may go out on a limb and suggest to you that once you’ve been empowered, there’s hope for everything in your life. Everything. Whether it’s related to health care, relationships, finances, etc.
Here’s a question for you. It feels safe to say that every person on the planet knows that when they cut their finger, their body goes into action to heal it. And barring any unforeseen circumstances or unsanitary conditions, it just happens.
If every single person on earth paused to ask themselves what might be the root cause of any malady, understood the body’s ability to heal itself, and took action to do so, would that make a difference?
It really is time to stop the madness. It’s time to stop thinking that we have no power to heal ourselves. It’s time to stop thinking that stuff “just happens”. It’s time to become part of the change.
Q. How will I heal the health care system?
A. I won’t, but we will.
Are you part of the problem, or are you part of the solution?
